Safety Mats: A Core Safety Protection Device for Industrial Robots

Under the wave of industrial automation, industrial robots have become a core part of modern manufacturing production lines, with widespread applications in automotive manufacturing, electronic assembly, and other industries. They significantly improve production efficiency and product quality. However, the autonomous operation of robots also presents potential safety hazards. When a person steps onto the mat, its internal sensing elements rapidly detect the applied pressure and transmit a signal to the control system, triggering the robot to stop immediately and helping prevent accidents at their source. Compared with safety barriers and infrared sensors, safety mats require no additional floor space, do not interfere with production processes, can adapt to complex working environments, and help eliminate potential protection blind spots.

Designed to meet the demands of high-frequency industrial operations, safety mats feature specially optimized materials and performance. The rubber construction provides resistance to corrosion, oil, and dust, while supporting more than 1 million operating cycles, making them suitable for continuous 24-hour operation. The 14 mm ultra-thin design minimizes interference with walking and work activities, while the 30 ms rapid response time enables immediate machine shutdown. The safety mat is also CE certified and meets Safety Category 3 requirements. When combined with a dedicated safety controller, it can provide enhanced protection by continuously monitoring equipment status. In the event of a system fault or unauthorized personnel entry, audible and visual alarms can be triggered, creating a dual protection mechanism of “early warning + automatic shutdown” and strengthening the safety barrier around robotic operations.
